**Aurora Henderson** (born 300) is a figure of the C9 universe, recorded as homo sapiens (aerokinetic variant), one of the young people who formed the House of Confidence on Aerogaea 347n. She came out of the klak grove and deep forest.
Aurora is recorded for aerokinesis (the invisible companion). Her skin is toughened from years of high-velocity wind. Weather-resistant. She draws power from the ambient pressure of the Grove. She is stronger inside her domain than outside it. Her vocal cords are altered — evolved or scarred — to project over the roar of wind. The croak is not affectation.
The record follows her across 3 periods of life, from year 315 onward. In the last of them she is recorded as retired guardian.
Aurora appears in 2 of the 19 chapters written so far, beginning with The Glass House, chapter 7[1].
## Early life
Aurora Henderson was born in year 300. She was 30 years old in 330, the year the Klak Grove was destroyed. The records give her origin as the klak grove / deep forest. Her development is recorded as territorial stasis (she does not leave the grove; she becomes part of its ecosystem). Her standing at this time was associate of John lyall / guardian. Physically, prime. The record notes less "Hag-like," more authoritative. What defines her in this period is "Mister Chryssander" (Chrys). She likely protected the Lyall family or the Klak resource while Chrys was growing up.
## Warden of the klak grove (330–339)
Her standing at this time was warden of the klak grove. Physically, she leans into the terrifying persona to keep looters away. Her voice is croakier, her silhouette darker. What defines her in this period is house of confidence. She tolerates them but enforces strict boundaries (The Expulsion).
## Later years (340 onward)
Her standing at this time was retired guardian / mentor. Physically, she is fading. Her senses dull (The Leinder Incident was the first warning sign). The yellow fire in her eyes dims. What defines her in this period is she needs to find someone to take over the Grove before she goes blind/deaf to the threats.

Aurora does not just "blow wind"; she commands a semi-sentient construct of pressurized air. It acts as her hands—lifting her, pushing enemies, or suffocating fires. She can summon round shields from the earth to seal off zones. The effect answers to territorial violation. Her power scales with the threat to the Grove. Because her senses are "cranked to max," she is vulnerable to sensory overload. A sufficiently complex illusion or a "Quiet" enemy (like Leinder) can slip past her by simply not triggering her specific threat thresholds.

### Mastery
She is tall and carries herself like a judge, and she is often half-obscured by whatever the air around her is doing. Her eyes burn yellow when she is looking properly.
She can warp groups of people instantly using high-velocity air streams (The Expulsion). She can snuff out magical fires (Blue Fire) by creating a vacuum.
## Before the House
### Decline/Shift
In the years before the grove chapters she was an associate of [[life/john-lyall|John Lyall]] and a guardian to the household, when [[life/chryssander-randolf-lyall-helvig|Chryssander]] was a child and was called Mister Sandy. What she was protecting, the Lyall family or the klak resource itself, the record does not separate.
The record notes wind power decreases. She relies on "Aura" and reputation. Her "Justice Sight" begins to fail, unable to distinguish disguised evil from true innocence.

Her senses run at their limit permanently. She reads the forest as a field of data and picks a broken twig, smoke, or an intent to harm out of it immediately.
Her perception runs high and vigilant. Her senses are permanently maxed. She perceives the forest as a grid of data — detecting broken twigs, smoke, or threat-intent instantly. She filters moral. Her gate filters targets by innocence. Flaw: it is easily tricked by appearance. She failed to detect Leinder because he looked like a child. Her biology is biased toward protecting youth. She thinks in binary. You are a threat (purge) or you are a guest (protect). The record notes very little gray area.
Her judgement is binary and she does not spend long on it. A thing is a threat and is purged, or it is a guest and is protected. There is very little between the two.
Later she came to hold the opposite: "I only see what I want to see." (Acknowledging her failure with Leinder). In her prime it became croaky, shifting between terrifying (to adults) and sweet (to kids). "Get your sorry hands off my trees." In old age it turned whispered, like dry leaves.

When the grove fell, a strong wind lifted all eight of them, and [[life/eon|Eon]], and set them down on the paved bridge at the eastern edge. The shield came up out of the ground behind them with a heavy thud and sealed[1].
