## Family
## How he arrived
Ben is the child of [[life/akio-nakayama|Akio Nakayama]] and [[life/samantha-grace-albert-nakayama|Samantha Grace Albert-Nakayama]].
Ben was six in year 335, the year of the Great Freeze, when he was caught stealing bread from [[life/akio-nakayama|Akio]]'s supply wagon. [[life/samantha-grace-albert-nakayama|Samantha]] almost shot him. Akio caught him instead, sat him down and fed him soup, and he ate it watching Akio the whole time[1].
He was still in the doorway holding the bread when Akio brought him home. Samantha looked at him for a long time, then pushed her chair back, stood up, said "sit down," and went to find a pot[1]. He never left.
## Life
Year 335 — "The Great Freeze." Found age 6, stealing bread from Akio's supply wagon. The record notes sam almost shot him. Akio caught him, sat him down, fed him soup. Idolizes Akio. He learns to knead dough before he learns to read. The only one who can calm Sam down during a Bad Noise Day (hallucinations). He takes over "Akio's" (the restaurant). The record notes the Community Feeder. The proof that Akio's instinct to pull people in works. He is not a soldier. He feeds the soldiers.
Ben has no abilities and is baseline. He learned to knead dough before he learned to read. He is the only one who can bring Samantha down out of a bad noise day.
## Appearances
As an adult he took over Naka's, and the restaurant became the place the plateau ate. He is not a soldier. He feeds the soldiers.
Ben is present in 2 of the 19 chapters written so far.
## The third book

- [[pages/book-two-book-two-chapter-one|The Silent Decade, chapter 1]] — Ben ate the second bowl faster than the first.[2]
Ben wrote the last book of *The Confidence*, and he wrote it from the restaurant. He did not go anywhere; he stayed, and everyone who went came back and sat at his table. He had his parents across it, [[life/sienna-astrid-helvig|Sienna]] home describing what the Voidomorphians felt like, [[life/celestine-elsa-helvig|Celestine]] telling him what she remembered in the Void, [[life/chryssander-randolf-lyall-helvig|Chryssander]]'s arms, and [[life/eon|Eon]]'s notebooks.
His access is the most complete of the three authors, not because he was present but because everyone who was present came to him. Of the three, [[life/leinder-byron|Leinder]] watched from outside and turned, Eon was inside and could not stop recording, and Ben stayed home and listened. His voice is the warmest of them: no pretension, no literary distance, a man trying to tell the truth about people he loves.
## Family
Ben is a son of [[life/akio-nakayama|Akio Nakayama]] and [[life/samantha-grace-albert-nakayama|Samantha Grace Albert-Nakayama]]. His siblings are [[life/seral-nakayama|Seral]], [[life/jory-nakayama|Jory]] and [[life/little-miri-nakayama|Little Miri]].
